- The current version of Smart Alarms is 2.9.1. Versions 2.8 and later have a
- feature built in to allow you to have the reminder beeps go off just once, or
- many times. Unfortunately, you have to use ResEdit to make this feature
- available, since the new manual was printed up before the feature was added
- and Imagine Software had the feature turned off.
- This fix is from John McMullen of JAM Technology, 685 Market Street, Suite
- 860, San Francisco, Ca. 94105. Phone 415-442-0795. As Imagine Software has
- not shared its client records with JAM, John requests all registered users of
- Smart Alarms to call or write and let him know who you are. Now, the fix...
- Make a copy of the installer, "Install Smart Alarms" Open "Install Smart
- Alarms" in ResEdit Open "STR" Open STR "key" & verify that it shows a single
- apostrophe ['] If it doesn't, you're on your own. Close STR "key" Open STR
- ".Rmdr" Change [Reminders File] to ['s Reminders] That's apostrophe s space
- Reminders Quit ResEdit and Save the changes to "Install Smart Alarms" Now,
- open the Chooser DA and give it a name if it doesn't already have one. Close
- chooser and open the Smart Alarms Installer you modified. After getting
- through the screens, you'll come to a dialog box with the name of the chooser
- inserted and a box to check only if you want the alarm to continue going off.
- Don't check it if you don't.
- Continue to install or reinstall Smart Alarms. When it comes time to update
- your Reminder's File, you'll be asked if you're sure you want to rename it to
- the name you put into Chooser. Say okay and you're all set.
- If you don't have the latest version of Smart Alarms, be aware that it is
- fully compatible with System 6 (.0.1 & .0.2), MacroMaker, has an added Snooze,
- will give you a 30 second break when you first boot up, allows you to edit the
- message of an alarm that's just gone off, and now shows the messages in the
- Smart Alarms' list in 9 point Geneva vs 12 point Chicago. The next version is
- supposed to have even better features... Please repost this message on other
- bulletin boards to give it the widest distribution.
